Sometimes we humans tunnel vision on a task, we invest more and more into it until we accomplish that task. After the task is complete we feel amazing for one second then we look around and realize we’re in a worst position than we started.

How did this happen? You failed to see the overall picture.

US Example:

In 1979, shortly after Ayatollah Khomeini took power in Iran, they became an “official” enemy of the United States because of the American hostages they took from the US embassy in Tehran. US would then cut ties with Iran, freeze their assets and sanction their oil.

After that, during the Iran-Iraq war the United States chose to back Iraq in the conflict and gave them aid. The casualty figures in that war are mind boggling, it was brutal. During that war the Beirut bombing happened and killed 241 US servicemen, US then designed Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism.
