Tactics - How To Beat Any Human Alive (Ft. Fomer SOF BowTiedBarracuda)
Methodically defeat your opposition.
Strategy and tactics is what I get a kick out of in life. Coming up with them, testing, adjusting. My love for this stuff really started in gaming as a kid. Playing online games vs other people. Finding out what people usually do and coming up with different methods to defeat them. Then the military broadened my interest, reading great works like ‘MCDP 1-3: Tactics’ written by the US Marine Corps, practicing martial arts and lately, Cybersecurity. In this article we’re going to break down how we use tactics.
And If you’re interested:
The Beginning of Tactics
The official definition of tactics by Webster is: “ a system or mode of procedure”. Tactics are the steps you take to execute a strategy. The type of tactics I’m interested in is not “How to make a tuna sandwich in 10 easy steps”. What I’m going to talk about is how to win against people.
The tactical level is a broad level, shit… You can study it for a lifetime. Real deal tactics begin when you’re dealing with a thinking opponent that’s reacting to your moves. You make your first move, your opponent attempts to stop you and he does. Now you start thinking about how to stop your opponent from stopping you. You feint one direction and go the other way. Your opponent gets tricked but he doesn’t fall for it a second time. Boom, you’re knee deep into tactics whether you know it or not.
Beating thinking opponents
To beat the majority of thinking opponents you need a series of tactics that you pre-planned and practiced. You compile those tactics together into something the military and cybersecurity people call TTPs or Techniques Tactics Procedures. If you have procedures that are good you should be able to beat probably 60%-90% of people. Why? Because at that point you’re operating on a higher level than they are. When you’re operating on a more elevated level than your opponent you’re the leader and you’re leading your opponent to their defeat. Your opponent is blindly reacting to your moves and you already know the next 10 steps, you’re taking them for a ride.
This is what militaries try to achieve. They know that the majority of their troops can’t be elite. Most people will be just average but if you make them memorize and understand some good procedures and send them out, they’ll beat most people they go against. This is especially true in martial arts, majority of martial artists are just exchanging techniques. Observe the UFC closely and you’ll realize that guys that have a “game” or procedures tend to all rise to the top. Examples like Khabib, Israel Adesanya, Alexander Volkanovsky and even Conor Mcgregor. Conor’s whole game used to revolve around guiding you to his right hand, his main finisher.
This is fairly easy to do for anyone that has interest in what they’re doing. If you want to beat most people in a video game just watch YouTube tutorials on that game. Practice what they’re doing and boom, above average.
Beating Trained opponents
Trying to beat trained opponents shifts the game drastically. At this level you should not aim to beat people with techniques but with your brain. Because at this level everyone knows each others moves.
