Impatience and ego are two things that we’re all born with. As we grow older we try to combat these forces within ourselves. But a these forces also exist outside of ourselves and need combating. They exist in our schools our businesses our government. These forces have brought down many empires in the past and we’re not immune to them today.
Leaving A Mark
In 1978 China opened it’s country to foreign investment. Money and technology from the west starting flooding in to China. This led to crazy economic grown, their GDP grew almost 10% every year. This is how China grew into the powerhouse that it is today. Their past president’s Hu Jintao and Jiang Zemin understood this very well and embraced capitalism and kept relationships with the west going. They weren’t naïve though, they were simultaneously participating in corporate espionage, stealing technology from the west. But this is fair game, lots of countries participate in military and corporate espionage (looking at France 👀). When Xi Jinping took office in 2013 he wanted to leave his own mark. Unlike his predecessors, he doesn’t care much for the economy. He purged people he didn’t like from the CCP and surrounded himself with “yes men”. Started the belt and road initiative. Started giving speeches saying:
