Saudi Arabia has been making headlines lately with all of their geopolitical moves. They appear to be defying the US global order by trying to be closer with US rivals like China and Iran. WTF are they up to?

The US Retraction

The United States military mostly withdrew from the middle east, with the exception of some advisors and Special Forces still left in Syria. The US Navy doesn’t have an aircraft carrier in the region 24/7 anymore. Before the Afghanistan and Iraq withdrawals there used to be an Carrier Strike Group in the Persian Gulf or near it at all times. They would stay there for 8-10 months at a time and swap out with another strike group.
