Tragedy in Texas as Flash Floods Devastate Hill Country
A catastrophic flooding event has struck the Texas Hill Country, with torrential rains causing the Guadalupe River to surge to historic levels. As of Sunday, at least 82 people have been confirmed dead, with more than 40 still missing.
The flash floods, which struck early on the Fourth of July holiday, were most severe in Kerr County. The dead include 28 children, and among the missing are ten campers and a counselor from Camp Mystic, a girls' summer camp in Hunt. Rescue operations are continuing around the clock, with Texas Governor Greg Abbott calling the scene "horrendously ravaged." President Trump has signed a major disaster declaration for the area to expedite federal assistance
