This was going to be a Ukraine war update but there’s a lot going on that I wanted to cover.

Kenyan “Police” in Port-au-Prince, Haiti

Ukraine-Russia

On June 18th, Russian President Putin visited North Korea. There he got a full red carpet treatment, cheering crowds and celebrations. It all looked amazing until you stopped for one second and realized what you were witnessing. A bunch of people with no control over their lives were forced to do rehearsals and are pretending to be happy. It’s all… Fake.

While in North Korea, Putin signed a strategic partnership agreement with Kim. No official text of the agreement has been published so we really don’t know for sure what it actually is. According to Russian and North Korea media, the agreement both counties agree to use all available means to provide immediate military assistance in the event of war. The agreement is also said to include things like political, economic and security cooperation.

This meeting and agreement seems to have pissed off the South Koreans. A defense pact with Russia would mean that if a war breaks out they would have to fight both North Korea and Russia. South Korea stated it would reconsider its policy of limited support for Ukraine. They’re thinking If they might have to fight Russia in the future away the best strategic move is to give Ukraine weapons to finish the job now.

Putin responded by saying “South Korea it would be making a big mistake if it arms Ukraine”.

After that, South Korea said it would consider "various options" in supplying arms to Ukraine and its stance will "depend on how Russia approaches this issue".
